This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy recruitment team in Shrewsbury (SY1) as a Recruitment Apprentice. You support industrial and commercial recruitment activities across Shropshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands. Working closely with the Branch Manager and sales teams, you are the main point of contact for clients and candidates—helping to identify and win new business while delivering an excellent service that exceeds both client and candidate expectations. You learn to: You assist in building and maintaining a client base, interacting with clients and candidates to develop strong working relationships. You liaise with new and existing clients to understand their business and recruitment requirements, and you place adverts on job boards targeting the right candidates. You source and screen candidates using job boards and other tools. You book and conduct initial interviews with candidates, managing expectations to match them to the right company and roles. You carry out candidate reference checks and ensure eligibility to work in the UK. You support the placement of candidates, liaising with clients to ensure their requirements are met. You proactively identify potential new business opportunities within the region. You assist the sales team in contacting prospective clients by phone and email. You attend site visits with senior team members to understand client needs, workforce and culture. You support the growth and management of existing client relationships. You provide out-of-hours on-call support (with supervision) when required. You complete necessary administration tasks and update the company CRM daily with client and candidate information. You attend and contribute to service meetings. You undertake any other duties as required to support the day-to-day running of the branch. You act as an ambassador for the company, demonstrating professionalism and integrity at all times.
Skills required
Ideally 1–2 years’ experience in a customer-facing or recruitment-related role; strong communication and ability to build rapport; excellent telephone manner and listening skills; organisational and administrative skills with proactive work ethic; confident IT skills (MS Office); enthusiastic, driven, and willing to learn; team player with a positive approach.
Qualifications required
No formal qualifications required; apprenticeship provides on-the-job training and mentoring; eligibility to work in the UK. A nationally recognised recruitment qualification is gained through the apprenticeship.
