As a Senior Support Worker, you will support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day organisation and effective running of the service, providing leadership to the staff team and helping to maintain a safe, healthy and supportive environment.

You’ll play a key part in delivering person-centred support that promotes independence, social development and life skills—ensuring support reflects each person’s culture, identity, preferences and needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager to monitor and improve person-centred service delivery
  • Promote and monitor health & safety, including risk assessments and infection prevention and control
  • Ensure staff practice supports people’s care, protection and wellbeing, in line with regulations and standards (including CQC)
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and leadership to Support Workers, including coaching and performance support
  • Support recruitment, induction and development of staff, including Care Certificate and mandatory/service-specific training
  • Use IT systems to support management of incidents, training, quality assurance and occupancy
  • Work with external professionals/agencies to support positive outcomes and service development
  • Support effective record keeping and evidence-based reporting
  • Contribute to medication processes in line with policy (including supporting systems for self-administration and ensuring checks are completed)
  • Support with rota planning and maintaining safe staffing levels (as directed)
  • Act as a point of contact in the absence of the Team Leader

What We’re Looking For (Essential)

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent or happy to work towards this)
  • Knowledge of CQC standards, safeguarding, MCA/DoLS, and health & safety requirements (e.g., manual handling, food hygiene, medication)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to build rapport with individuals and families
  • Team-leading ability with high standards and attention to detail
  • Experience with rota planning/complex rostering
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Able to travel/commute within a reasonable distance to support the service as needed

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
  • Experience of medication management
  • Support plan writing
