Equine Apprentice

Caron Roberts Equestrian · Swindon

Animal CareIntermediate Level 2On-site

The dedicated and friendly team at Caron Roberts Equestrian seeks an equine apprentice to join them at their livery and coaching centre in Wiltshire. Caron Roberts Equestrian is a livery and coaching centre based in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, offering a range of livery packages that cater to diverse horse owners, from 'happy hackers' to competition horses. Each horse receives individual care, supported by a passionate team dedicated to providing excellent service. This position presents an excellent opportunity to work with various horses in a nurturing environment focused on coaching. Responsibilities include mucking out, turning out and bringing in horses, preparing horses for lessons, feeding, filling hay nets, maintaining the yard and paddocks, exercising horses (both non-ridden and ridden), and assisting with veterinary care. This position is not merely about manual tasks; there is a strong emphasis on training that includes rehabilitation work with a vet and potential eventing opportunities for suitable candidates. The role is structured for five days a week from 7:30 am to 5 pm, with the possibility of on-site accommodation and bringing your own horse. The apprentice will receive training covering all aspects of the industry, such as customer care, clipping, and plaiting, aiming for the apprentice to gain confidence and experience to pursue management roles or to run their own yard, becoming a top groom or taking sole charge of a yard. Additionally, support is given to achieve BHS qualifications, enhancing the apprentice's CV and future career prospects. The team, led by someone who began their own career as an apprentice, is looking for an honest, enthusiastic person to join their passionate and dedicated coaching environment. Accommodation on-site is provided, along with space for the apprentice's horse on livery. Immediate starts are available.
