At Bango, the Apprentice Quality Assurance Engineer supports the day-to-day QA activities within an Engineering team. This includes learning how to analyse requirements, create and execute test plans, contribute to automated test suites, and carry out manual exploratory testing for new releases and bug fixes.

This is an apprenticeship role where you will be supported by experienced QA Engineers and wider Engineering colleagues while developing the skills needed to contribute to Bango’s quality standards, automation approach and continuous improvement culture.

You will work closely with Software Engineers, QA Engineers and Cloud Automation Engineers throughout the development cycle to help ensure that quality is considered as early as possible and carried through every release. You will help ensure that the products and services Bango builds meet functional requirements and perform to internal and customer expectations.

You will also learn how test automation helps teams work more effectively, reduce repeated manual effort and get feedback faster. As your skills develop, you will contribute to automated testing, exploratory testing and improvements that support Bango’s QA Strategy.

Support QA activities within an Engineering team, with guidance from experienced colleagues.
Analyse requirements, create, maintain and execute manual and automated tests in line with Bango’s QA approach.
Carry out exploratory and usability testing using appropriate test tools.
Investigate, document and communicate defects clearly.
Contribute to promoting quality earlier in the development process, supporting a shift-left mindset within the team.
Build confidence in contributing to team discussions about testing approach, improvements, risks and quality.
Learn how automation supports faster feedback, reduced manual regression effort and more effective delivery.
Contribute to QA best practice and support Bango’s QA Strategy.
Take part in team reviews, retrospectives and continuous improvement activities.

Skills required

Interest in technology, software testing and how software products are built.
Good attention to detail and a structured approach to work.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills, and good written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable using common workplace tools like Microsoft Office, email, calendars, and online meetings on Windows or Mac OS
Willingness to learn new tools, technologies and testing techniques.
Previous experience in an office, technology or customer-focused environment is desired.
Experience using AI tools or LLMs, such as ChatGPT or Claude, to support learning or task completion beneficial, but optional

Qualifications required

A-Levels in STEM subjects or Computer Science, equivalent qualifications, or demonstrable interest in technology, software testing or software development.
