Job duties;

Purchase Orders & Supplier Management -
  • Raise purchase orders as requested and ensure they are well managed, correctly matched, and closed when fully billed.
  • Process supplier invoices accurately, ensuring correct coding, VAT treatment, PO matching, and approval routing using an AI assisted platform.
  • Manage proforma invoices, ensuring they are accounted for correctly, paid promptly, and reconciled against full VAT invoices to avoid duplication.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and request any missing invoices or credit notes.
  • Review supplier ledgers regularly to identify old, unusual, or unallocated items and ensure credit notes are correctly applied.Finance Administration -
  • Adhere to client specific finance policies and internal controls.
  • Assist with preparing supplier payment runs, including running payment reports and sending remittance advices.
  • Perform basic review checks on VAT returns and support resolution of discrepancies.
  • Support data entry, document management, and workflow processing across finance systems.Team Support & Communication -
  • Work collaboratively with the wider Archangel team to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and suppliers by email and occasionally via video call.
  • Carry out general administrative tasks as required to support efficient team operations.

Skills required

We are looking for candidates with a solid foundation in core technical and professional skills, including:
  • Numeracy & Analytical Skills - Comfortable working with numbers, performing calculations, and interpreting basic financial data with accuracy.
  • IT & Systems Proficiency - Confident using Microsoft Excel and familiar with general IT systems. An interest in accounting software (e.g. Xero) and digital tools is beneficial.
  • Data Accuracy & Processing - Ability to input, review, and manage financial data with a high level of precision and attention to detail.
  • Basic Understanding of Finance/Business (Desirable) Some exposure to accounting, bookkeeping, or business concepts through study or work experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Problem-Solving Skills - Able to follow processes, identify inconsistencies, and resolve straightforward issues logically.
  • Organisation & Task Management - Capable of managing multiple tasks, prioritising effectively, and meeting deadlines.
  • Communication Skills - Able to present information clearly, whether in written communication, internal notes, or client-facing interactions.
  • Adaptability to Technology & Process Improvement - Comfortable learning new systems and tools, with an openness to automation and process-driven ways of working.

Qualifications required

  • GCSE's grades 9/A* - 5/B including Maths and English.
  • A strong overall GCSE profile.
  • A-levels (or equivalent): Preferably in subjects such as Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics, or other analytical disciplines.

Professional Level: This level teaches you how to apply technical knowledge to real-life scenarios. You’ll deepen your knowledge on financial reporting, audit and assurance, tax compliance, finance management, business strategy, and business planning.

Advanced Level: You will give you the skills to understand how accountancy and finance works within businesses. You’ll learn about corporate reporting and strategic business management.
