The IT Support Apprentice will provide first- and second-line technical support to colleagues across the business, helping to deliver a reliable and efficient IT service. The role will involve supporting the maintenance, administration, and continuous improvement of AVASK's IT infrastructure, including end-user devices, networks, servers, and business systems.

Working as part of the IT Service Desk, the apprentice will follow ITIL best practices to manage incidents, service requests, and problem resolution while contributing to a high standard of customer service. The role may also involve supporting IT projects, system upgrades, office relocations, and other technology initiatives. As an international organisation, occasional overseas travel may be required to support business operations.

As part of the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will be expected to fully engage with and complete all requirements of the apprenticeship programme. This includes attending training sessions, completing coursework and assessments, and applying newly acquired knowledge within the workplace.

The apprentice will work closely with their Line Manager, mentors, and apprenticeship provider to ensure successful completion of the programme. This will include participating in regular progress reviews, setting development objectives, completing assignments within agreed timescales, and demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and professional development throughout the apprenticeship.

Duties
Provide first-line IT support to colleagues by diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and account-related issues.
  • Log, prioritise, and manage support tickets through the IT Service Desk, ensuring timely updates and resolution.
  • Perform daily IT operational checks to ensure key business systems, devices, and services are functioning correctly.
  • Set up, configure, and maintain laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and user accounts for new and existing employees.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT team members while maintaining clear communication with users throughout the process.
  • Support IT projects, system upgrades, and office technology improvements while developing your technical skills through ongoing training and funded professional development.

Skills required

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with Windows and/or Mac operating systems.
• Familiarity with basic networking concepts.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Some experience of working within an IT support role, either professionally or personally, would be an advantage.

Qualifications required

• 5 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or higher (inc. Science or Technology, plus Maths & English).

Future prospects

Progression to permanent member of the IT Department upon completion of apprenticeship.
