There are some amazing apprenticeships out there- whatever your interests, and where you want to go in life, there is a job out there for you! There are some very unconventional but seemingly interesting apprenticeships out there, could you see yourself doing some of these jobs?
Fish Husbandry
Let me explain! So, this is a Level 2 intermediate apprenticeship and it involves looking after fish and their surroundings. Some of your responsibilities would include:
- Helping monitor and care for fish,
- Maintaining their health,
- Preventing disease and enhancing their environment.
Forensic Photographer
If you’re into CSI or other similar programmes that involve murder, investigation and crime then this could be the apprenticeship for you - a trainee crime scene photographer, working towards a level 3 qualification. Forensic photography, sometimes referred to as forensic imaging or crime scene photography, is the art of producing an accurate representation of a crime or accident scene using photography, for the benefit of a court or to aid in an investigation. Sound interesting to you? The furthest I have been with crime scene investigation is which member of my family has stolen my food.
Radio Plugger
Do you ever wonder how music makes its way from original conception in a music studio to playing on the top national radio stations? Well it’s the contribution from people called Radio Pluggers who work with music every day! They are hired by record labels to take new singles to radio producers and DJ’s to secure radio plays as well as setting up interviews with bands. There are opportunities out there for a level 3 apprenticeship in this field.
So if you are a passionate music lover this could be a great stepping stone into the music industry.
Tree Management/ Tree Surgeon
Are you somebody that isn’t bothered by being up high? If the answer is ‘yes’ then why not pursue an apprenticeship in Tree management/ tree surgeon. As a tree surgeon you would be crucial for conservation work and keeping trees healthy. As an Arboriculture apprentice, you will learn how to fell, plant and prune trees as part of your daily routine. You’ll need an understanding of plants and biology and become comfortable working with heavy machinery such as chainsaws.
