Energise Your Body for
Results Day
Taking care of your physical well-being can play part in how
you handle the emotions and stress that can come with results day. Start by
making sure you get a full night's sleep beforehand; a rested mind is better prepared
to process information calmly and clearly. On the morning of results day, fuel
yourself with a nutritious breakfast to maintain your energy levels.
Additionally, stay hydrated and try to make time for light physical activities,
such as a brief walk or gentle stretching, to help maintain a positive and
balanced state of mind.
Steady Your Mind
Mental preparation is just as important as physical readiness for results day. Acknowledge and accept the normal mix of emotions you might feel, from excitement to anxiety. Techniques like deep breathing exercises or meditation can help you stay calm and composed. Also, having a plan for different outcomes can provide a sense of direction and reduce uncertainty that you might feel. Whether your results meet your expectations or not, knowing your next steps can give you a sense of control. Remember, results day is just one part of your journey, and there are various paths to achieving the goals you have.
Coping with Unexpected Results
If your results aren’t what you expected, it’s important to
remember that this is not the end of your journey, but rather a stepping stone.
Take some time to process your feelings and allow yourself to experience any
emotions that you may have. Once you feel ready, explore your options - speak
to a teacher, guardian, or career advisor who can help you understand different
paths and next steps. There may be opportunities for re-sits, appeals, or
different courses and careers that can still lead you to where you want to be.
Use this experience as a learning opportunity to build resilience and
adaptability, skills that are important for your future career.
Hear from our ambassadors
Georgia, a Chartered Management Degree Apprentice, shares
some great tips for dealing with results day. She suggests having a Plan B in
case your results aren't what you expected can really help calm your nerves.
Georgia also recommends sticking to your normal routine to keep stress and
anxiety at a minimum. Enjoy your summer holidays, hang out with friends, sleep
well, and just keep living your life as usual.
She also stresses the importance of focusing on the
positives. Think about all the knowledge and experiences you've gained, not
just your grades. Talking to others is another key point—open up to your
friends and family about how you're feeling instead of keeping it all inside.
And remember, comparing yourself to others isn’t helpful. Everyone has their
own strengths and experiences, so focus on your own hard work and achievements.
Georgia's own story is a testament to this advice. She
didn't achieve her predicted grades, but she still found alternative options
and succeeded. Her experience shows that results day is just one step in your
journey, and there are always different paths to reach your goals.
